B.Sc Nursing

Eligibility

Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India / children or dependents of Non Resident Indians. 

As per Indian Nursing Council norms, the candidates should have passed +12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Minimum Marks: Score at least 50% marks.

As per norms of Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) for admission for B. Sc Nursing, the minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of: Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course), Or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), Pre-Degree Examination (10+2), Or An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

Relaxation in marks: The candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (as per G.O. (P) No. 208/66/Edn dated 2.5.1966, G.O. (MS) No.95/08/SCSTDD dated 06.10.2008 and amendments thereof), will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. They need only 45% marks in the case of Biology and 45% marks in the case of optional subjects put together. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination.

Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the Institution a Certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer with MBBS or higher qualification certifying that the candidate is fit to undergo the course. Rounding off the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted.

Candidates who have passed their qualifying Examination from authorities other than the State of Kerala, except CBSE and ICSE, shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalence of the qualifying examination from Kerala University of Health Sciences/ Directorate of HSE, Kerala.

For grant of equivalency of Secondary School Educational qualification granted by any foreign country for the purpose of admission to B.Sc Nursing courses, the student need to produce an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian universities (AIU), AIU House, 16, Commander, Inderjit Gupta Marg, New Delhi – 110002 and also the requisite approval from the Indian Nursing Council.

The norms of eligibility prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council / Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council / Kerala University of Health Sciences shall also apply.

Age: Applicants should complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2019. No relaxation of age will be allowed

NRI Seats

The Managements are entitled to fill up to 15% of the total seats as NRI category by admitting qualified students who are dependents of NRIs. According to GO (MS) No.243/2014/H&FWD dated 06.08.2014, “An Applicant who depends upon his/her Father / Mother / Brothers and Sisters (inclusive of first cousins) / Husband / Wife / Brothers and Sisters (inclusive of first cousins) of Father or Mother / Half Brother / Half Sister / Adopted Father or Adopted Mother who is working abroad” will only be eligible to apply in the NRI category seats.

As per the Fee Structure prescribed for the NRI category seats in AFRC Order no. ASC100/21/NURSING/AMCSFNCK dated 02.08.2021, the Annual Tuition Fees payable by students being admitted under the NRI category seats is Rs.95,000/- per year.

All other fees including special fees as detailed in the prospectus are applicable to students admitted under the NRI category, too

M.Sc Nursing

Criteria of Eligibility for Admission

Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India/ children or dependents of Non Resident Indians.

Candidates should have passed the regular Degree course in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing/Post Basic B. Sc Nursing) with 55% aggregate marks from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).

Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from Universities other than from the Government Universities in the State of Kerala should produce Eligibility/Equivalence Certificate for the qualifying examination from Kerala University of Health Sciences.

Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit to the Principal of the Institution a Certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer certifying that the candidate is fit to undergo the course. Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted.

Any further norms of eligibility that may be prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council/ Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council/KUHS shall also apply. Professional Registration: Candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM) with the Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council.

Employment Experience

As on the date of joining for the course, the candidates should have minimum one year of experience after Basic B. Sc Nursing OR minimum one year of experience prior or after regular Post Basic B. Sc Nursing, in any hospital having minimum bed strength of 100 or in a School/College of Nursing with Community Health Program.

One year compulsory nursing service/ internship after successful completion of four year B. Sc Nursing can be considered as experience.
Experience acquired after registration with the nursing council only will be counted.

Rules and regulations

All students admitted in the college must observe the rules and regulations that may be framed from time to time by college authorities.

  • Students must be regular and punctual at lectures, demonstrations, seminars, practicals, field work and other academic exercises. They are required to attend all allotted working periods in each of the prescribed subjects.
  • The students should present themselves in their respective classrooms/ laboratories 5 minutes before the commencement of the lecture/ demonstration. Every student shall attend all theory and practical classes. They are not supposed to leave the college premises without permission of the Principal.
  • In case of illness, students shall obtain permission from the Principal for granting leave.
  • In case of non-attendance of classes, an application must be submitted to the Principal for leave of absence giving the reasons.
  • Membership in the recognized Student Nurses’ Association is compulsory.
  • Students must be neat and tidy in their dress, avoiding expensive clothes and exaggerated fashions.
  • Students must wear the prescribed uniform for duty and class hours.
  • Students must maintain a sense of decorum and discipline inside the College and in its associated institutions, and in public places. Students should refrain from disfiguring walls and furniture, and from other objectionable practices.
  • Ragging is strictly prohibited. In connection with this, the Anti Ragging Committee is functioning effectively in College campus.
  • The Catholic students have to attend Christian Doctrine classes and the retreats organized annually. They are urged and encouraged to attend the Eucharistic Celebration as often as possible and to make use of facilities made available to help in their all-round formation as committed Christian nurses.
  • Students must respect and be obedient to all members of the staff as well as managing authorities of the college.
  • Students should carry their identity cards at all times and produce the same when required.
  • Each student is responsible for the proper handling and safe custody of any apparatus or equipments that she may be using. In case of any damage or loss to the college property through misuse or negligence, the students shall have to pay the cost of repair or replacement.
  • All dues should be cleared before the examination.
  • Use of Cell phones, I-pods etc is not allowed inside the College Campus.
  • Rule of Language – English is strictly adhered in the College Campus.

Student Counseling

Student should feel free to contact the class teacher who is also the class advisor/counselor for any problem. The interview and discussion will be strictly confidential. Any problem of concern, personal, family or social may be shared. Counseling Teachers and students ratio of 1:10 is maintained throughout all 4 years.
